I noticed this on my Twitter account a few minutes ago:
I have gone over 20,000 Twitter followers. Thanks to whoever tipped me over.
It wouldn't matter much except for reasons hard to ow recall I have a wager with Danny Blanchflower on which of us will be first to 30,000. He's already more than 500 ahead.
There is also a serious point to this: I do use Twitter to comment on a lot more stuff than I do on the blog. If you want to follow @richardjmurphy please do!
Thanks for reading this post.

Congratulations Richard. I have also noted the fact @Worstall has far fewer followers, which I think is indicative of the level of influence each of you have.
In fairness, he only seems to use Twitter to have a go at me…..

What can the government do to rescue financially contractors domestic mnimoniakis misinformation , base of support in the effort to impose brutal neoliberal policies of the memoranda . After the loans from banks , with political decisions , blind eyes debts to employees and funds , the gift of digital frequencies and the closure of ERT , a new gift will be added to the list.
With amendment tabled the bill ” Uniform Property Tax Real Estate and other provisions” of the Ministers of Finance and State John Stournara Dimitris Stamatis , decided to shift from 1.1.2014 to 1.1.2015 the application of the provision permitting the imposition of duty 20 % ads that appear on TV .
All this while the advertising pie channels for November rose 23.55 % over last year , which makes us advertising spend 58763703 euros last month from 47,563,076 euro in November 2012 and while the great experiences of media groups exhibit obligations 818 million with loans of € 579 million. Loans of any other business sector could not provide such presenting financial data and which, ultimately , also loaded on the backs of the Greek people.
More specifically :
It is a provision of Law 3845/2010 which provided for the imposition of a special tax of 20% on the ads that appear on TV . As stated in the explanatory report of the Ministerial amendment , “this adverse economic climate has negatively affected the economic situation of all stakeholders , especially business , operating channels , and advertisers and advertisers .”
Initially the entry into force of this provision was postponed to 1.1.2012 with N.3899/2010 then postponed to 1.1.2013 with Legislative Act of 2011 and finally transferred 1.1.2014 with Legislative Act of 2012.
” The reasons that necessitated postponing the entry into force of this provision have not yet been eliminated , instead constantly expanding so any application from 1.1.2014 to may cause further problems for the sustainability of broadcasters and advertisers , with risk in case of outage , to the loss of hundreds of jobs and significant revenue for the government and social security funds , what this means for social cohesion and the financial situation of the country ” in the Explanatory Memorandum and even that ‘ based on the above data , it is appropriate to again postpone the entry into force of this provision for an additional year. ”
The report of the General Accounting Office no specific amount for the loss of revenue for the year 2014 by deferring the imposition of the special 20% tax on TV business . Reported, however , that the loss of revenue will be compensated from other sources in the state budget .
In short, as it passes from the hand of this government , taxpayers will continue to fund the operation of television stations so they can undistracted as ” parrots ” who thrive on them waving a finger across every industry that responds to brutal austerity policies , even apangelontas categories corporatist interests kratikodiaiton . Who ? ‘s Most vulgar , and state- interlaced guild
Wow! Meanwhile they shut down the Greek national TV & when the journalists offer to work for free they pepper-spray them!
Given a list of Greeks with enormous Swiss bank A/Cs by Mme Lagarde they respond by surreptitiously losing it!
This is a very “bought” Govt. The Greek people must be in despair.
Mind you, they’re Greeks, so they can be philosophical about it.
