Enough of the talk Vince: just deliver

Posted on

The Guardian reports Vince Cable on the Andrew Marr show, yesterday:

Vince Cable, the business secretary, has said the government needs to "beef up" its ability to deal with what he described as "appalling abuse of company taxation" in the UK. He claimed there was systematic abuse taking place in the multinational sector, where companies can use internal accounting strategies to cut their domestic tax liability, and that the tax authorities needed to be "very tough".

Enough talk Vince: there is a way to do this and it is to back Michael Meacher's General Anti-Tax Avoidance Principle Bill. The government's Bill fails to achieve the objective on this issue. So you know what to do: stop prevaricating and just choose the option that works.
