Comments posted here yesterday suggested that, overall, a discussion forum is likely to be preferred by those who wish to take part in debate on items posted here that will not meet the criteria of the comments policy, a proposed revision of which I have posted today.
I am more than happy to see such a discussion forum created, but neither the team here nor I have the capacity to create or host it, or to moderate it.
As a consequence, the question that naturally arises is whether anyone else is willing to take on leadership of that project? Are there any willing volunteers?
If there is more than one, I will be happy to put you in touch, but please note that I am travelling today and, as a consequence, there may be a delay in doing so.

I am relieved you and team are unwilling…. my experience of such forums is that they seem to become toxic quite quickly.

Many moons ago I used to run my own group on Yahoo where I was just about the only person who posted. I used to regularly post a lot of information about disabilities which I found via newsletters, the internet and many other sources.
It got to the point where I felt that the lack of others posting meant that no-one was following or bothered about what I was posting, despite having quite a large membership.
It was only when I posted up that I was thinking about running the group down due to the lack of engagement that people started to post up asking me not to. It turned out that many people were quite happy with the content I was posting and found it very useful.
In this regard, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t indicate on some of your posts that they are for information only (FIO) which means you wouldn’t have to expect comments and therefore moderation on the post.
I find many of your posts very interesting and valuable in their own right meaning I don’t always feel the need to read the many comments.
Might your workload would drop a little bit if some of your posts were FIO?
You would still be able to track engagement via how many ‘likes’ the post got.

I like the idea of FIO added to your posts which can be followed up by readers themselves via your glossary, or by doing their own research. This should give you more time for thinking and your own research.
But the links to the glossary are all there, already. Adding them at the bottom all over again would take a lot of programming and overall this blog raises a lot less of our funding in revenue and donations that YouTube does. Is anyone willing to fund a few hundred pounds to duplucate what is already available?
