As I mentioned yesterday, it has been a long and quite tiring week because of rapidly evolving world events, and having to keep track of them whilst simultaneously trying to make sure that the material we were producing for this site, on YouTube, as well as on LinkedIn and Substack, where I also now post, was as up to date as best we were able to make it.
In addition to all that, I tried to make progress on some of the ongoing projects here, including the production of a guide to MMT and the politics of care, but I will be honest and admit that events got the better of me there, and progress has been slow. This has also been apparent in other series, like that on economic thought, where there simply hasn't been time to produce any new content.
All of this is a roundabout way of saying that I need a bit of a break today, more than anything else to gather my thoughts and reflect on where we might go next, because that seems to be important after a week in which Mark Carney had the courage to say that the world order of which he has been a part has fallen apart, irretrievably, and that a new one must, as a consequence, be created.
Thinking I had already done has let me react to that suggestion this week in ways that would not otherwise have been possible, but some quiet time and a good walk today might be necessary to recharge the batteries.
If those activities produce some reasonable photographs, I will share them. Otherwise, please take a look at today's video and the others we have produced this week. It makes clear why we have to change. I will return to that theme tomorrow. It is also now bound to be a theme of our day in Cambridge on 28 February. Tickets and details are available here. It would be good to see you there.

Buy me a coffee!

It is always good to take time out and practise self-care, and nothing better than taking a fresh calming walk outside and just let your mind drift!
What we all need are those people who accept and are not afraid to show their limitations; that it is far better to work in cooperation with others even where you may differ in viewpoints rather than be antagonistic; build bridges rather than burn them; have humility instead of hostile arrogant supremacist attitudes over others.
Have a good weekend!
I’m not surprised you are needing a break. Such has been the detail and depth of this week’s blogs that I’m finding it hard to keep up with the output and comments from readers. I think most of us(readers) get the general drift of the arguments, but need time to think through the implications of what’s happening and the implications of it. I really don’t know how you manage to produce so much detailed analysis on such a wide range of topics at such short notice, and at the same time keep abreast of the comments – often with in-depth replies. Let’s hope the world is quieter next week. A little more time to stop and stare.
Thanks
I’m going to back off until after February. This is not a competition to respond or a numbers game. Your posts are just really interesting that’s all. I’ll give you a break from me at least. Think well.
Enjoy the walk Richard. At least there is some sun after the dull days.
