Throughout the weekend, I kept asking myself whether I should write a blog post about Rachel Reeves misrepresenting the economic background to her Budget, but then I asked myself: why?
The mainstream media has covered this issue.
Nobody now expects Rachel Reeves to tell the truth.
The fact that she dissembled (at best) to support her spreadsheet-balancing exercise is not really a surprise to anyone.
And no one expects her to ever have another go at presenting a Budget, because she and Keir Starmer are so obviously now failing leaders of the Labour Party, let alone the country.
So, having spent a lot of time over the last few weeks discussing all her many and miserable failings, I have decided that there is no point in documenting in detail yet another of them. Let's just agree: she's failed, and it's time for her to go.

My understanding of the role of the OBR is that of advising/alerting the Chancellor on the state of the economy on a regular basis throughout the year. Rachel Reeves must have been fed the ‘intelligence’ concerning the Black Hole. How could she make it up? Has she been stitched by dark forces within the Treasury and the forever truthful UK media.
Am I just an idiotic conspiracy theorist?
I think the chance that someone in the OBR sought to stitch her up is high. How else does all of this, including the leak, make sense?
