At least we’re only facing tariffs, and not invasion

Posted on

The prospect of Trump's tariffs creating significant costs for the UK was discussed on Sophy Ridge's programme on Sky News last night.

Amongst those discussing the issue was Ed Vaizey, the former Tory culture minister who is now a peer. His suggestion was that at least we were only facing tariffs from Trump, and not invasion as Canada and Greenland are doing.

This caused amusement, in an ironic way. Everyone realised how low the bar is now set when discussing US relations.  Trump really has debased the world of political economy.
