Their treatment of her and some other Labour MPs is really shameful…..if that is an indication of how Labour will run the country, utterly without compassion, we need to worry…
“if”? why did you put in “if” don’t you mean: “this is an indication of how Labour etc…”
Abbott gave her life to Labour & endured endless humiliation often in dignified silence – & mostly at the hands of the ghastly tories. However, this role seems to have now been taken over by LINO/Starmer.
Starmer is gradually turfing out the awkward mob and getting in Streeting/Reeves-clones, yes men/women, neo-libs to their finger tips – it will soon have an army of them, saying the same stuff (no mony, fiscal rectitude or is it rectal fistitude? – I’m confused – whatever) all with a nice adenoidal twang.
You’re right of course! I’m not sure why I used the conditional ….I’m finding it increasingly hard to listen to any of the appalling drivel coming out of the the mouths of the shadow cabinet…..so depressing! My father stood as a Labour candidate in the 1950 GE, he was a man of great compassion…..he wouldn’t recognise the party now….. as indeed many of us don’t.
First Jeremy Corbyn, now Diane Abbott. The very heart of the labour party has been excised and thrown out with the rubbish.
For some reason, this feels like rock bottom for me. The last last shred of hope I had that Mr Starmer’s Labour might yet find a smidgeon of integrity and humility has now been thoroughly expunged and I am now well and truly in despair.
I live in Kent and there’s zero chance of Labour being voted in over the current Tory incumbent so at least I can vote with my conscience as I know my vote will have no sway on the overall outcome.
But a bitter pill nonetheless.
I really, really hope Diane Abbott stands as an Independent in her current seat, which she won by 33000 at the last election.
Starmer is trying to keep a tight lid on the fact that he has already decided to throw Diane Abbott out in his extermination plan for the remaining left-wing ”fleas’ he cannot manage to shake off. I have no doubt that the clandestine selection of a thoroughly heartless neoliberal replacement was already being explored many months ago. Who will be so desperate to climb the greasy pole that they will gladly risk public vilification?
The Starmer regime’s preparation for forcing Diane out of the Labour Party with as much disgrace as he could possibly heap on her might be an own-goal. The leaked information has already partially derailed the worst of his plan, and put Starmer on the spot. It is so obvious what he is planning to do, so everyone can see through his lies to fully realize how devious and shallow he is; hopefully it will cost him at the ballot box.
I had the pleasure of meeting Diane Abbott once at a Reparations Conference. Not recognizing her at first with her hair swept up in a turban, when she spoke to someone I immediately recognized her voice. I blurted out “you sound like Diene Abbott”. Thankfully not insulted, she said “that’s because I am Dianne Abbott” and we went on to have a really inspiring chat. Hopefully Abbott is savvy enough to know how utterly ruthless Starmer is by now and she will be prepared to jump ship at the very last ditch to enter the General Election as an Independent. I will be glad to see her break free of that Toxic Labour rump; If she does decide to run I think she will win hands-down.
I’m one of Diane’s constituents and she’s nearly as old as me, and not in A1 health…. so a year or so ago, I was thinking it was time she considered retirement. I know how tired I get. BUT, given the way she has been treated – particularly in light of the welcome given to the appalling Elphicke – and given her intention to serve as an MP for the constituency for as long as possible, I will be voting for her as a Labour or Independent candidate if she stands. And if she doesn’t stand, I’ll vote for a different party. I would still vote labour in other constituencies where they have good candidates – there are still plenty of people in the party who I like and admire – but in the current circs, not in Hackney North. Guess this public statement will get me barred from a few more LP groups! Hey ho.
I note that LINO has backtracked wrt Abbott – instead another “tethered goat” has been identified: Lloyd Russel Moyle. made up allegations and as a consequence he has been put on “administrative suspension”.
Disclaimer (?) I met LLoyd when I was called to give evidence at a HoC select committee on energy.
He seemed a pretty decent sort of chap – the kind of person you would want as an MP & canny with his questions.
Just when you think Kid Starver can’t go lower – he does. Vile.
