I have an article in the Times Higher Education this week, co-authored with Prof Susan Smith of UCL:
We begin the article saying:

Climate crisis awareness should be in the accounting course curriculum to emphasise the importance of sustainability. Also awareness of different economic and social theories including criticism of Tufton Street neoliberalism. Social inequality should feature and the role of capital and labour in business, Some geo-political issues would be useful – the role of China, exploitation in thethird world, debt etc
Our aim is that it should be there
This country has made a virtue out of narrow mindedness for far too long and I welcome the post.
What I’m saying is that in post Thatcherite Britain, I see a lot of people who are very good at their jobs but lack nuances and wider strategic vision as well as a certain lack of morality or ethics. I’ve heard people tell me that they want to go into accounting to help the ‘rich count their money’ and feed off that.
You could say that this trend in unthinking but talented people is a form of ‘artificial intelligence’ because it is focussed and incapable of reflection. It is not true human intelligence in my view.
But it also has a darker side – Hannah Arendt’s idea of the ‘banality of evil’ – her reflection on Eichmann – in that ordinary but capable people can unthinkingly contribute to not just evil but also injustice and criminality – the latter we see a lot of in the process of accounting.
What accounting needs is more people like our host – who have the ability to look up from the ledger and ask questions.
‘..a rapidly changing professional environment”
Really? It needs to be, but is it?
I know you (and others) are trying to change the environment, but ……..?
The political will isn’t there. Is there a public or popular will ?
I know there should be, but does it exist?
Thank you for your persistence.
