This opinion poll finding for the Mirror was posted on Twitter last night:
On the basis of that this forecast electoral map was drawn:
Starmer believes this.
That is why he is treating everyone with contempt.

As Jo Swinson discovered in 2019 (remember “Jo Swinson’s Liberal Democrats” on the side of a bus?), any leader who treats their political party as a personal fiefdom is likely to find that voters give them a rude awakening.
Starmer treats his party with contempt because his sole focus, irrespective of policies or principle, seems to be winning the election and becoming prime minister.
I guess he thinks that there is no one else that left leaning electors can vote for (two party FPTP). So he abuses them to appeal to ever more right wing electors. It’s called triangulation.
But, perhaps, the Overton window is indeed closing. Perhaps the electorate will see through this disgusting tactic. I hope so.
And why he likes first past the post.
Just before anyone gets carried away, lets just cogitate on this a second or two.
What exactly are the Tories being replaced with?
Exactly.
Even in death, the Tories have still won and will win.
Unless of course, Starmer has tricked the Establishment and will find his socialist bent again in power.
Which I wager, he will not.
Our future has already been purchased don’t you know? By all all those get rich quick millionaires that Thatcher made.
Thus is ‘modern Britain’.
Your conclusion is correct, Richard. Starmer is certain he is going to be PM, and so does not really need the rest of the party. A point made by Tim Kent, is also important, who else is there to vote for?
This actually presents a great opportunity, for a campaign against both Tory and Labour, by the Green Party. As Corbyn showed in 2015 and 2017, don’t rely on the media to help you, get out and campaign. Corbyn drew massive crowds far and wide, with policies that had been denigrated for years, by the MSM, yet he was able to get through.
There are 2 leaders and a deputy leader, in the Greens, they should be preparing to offer an alternative, and going on the road to publicise it. I have no doubt it will be hard work, but surely, anyone who wants to lead a country, should be able to do this. As Corbyn did, there is no need to attack the other parties, but to simply present your party position in as many places as possible, and show that it is better.
If the Greens do not do this, I fear that other right wing parties will see the same opportunities to do it, and they will have the support of the MSM.
It’s not that I fundamentally disagree here, it’s that First Past The Post has broken our country probably irreparably, as it has in the US. I have occasionally joked that the worst thing the UK and US did in the twentieth century was to win the Second World War, because we were not forced to address our constitutional collapse, which was evident even then. (Note that this was a joke – I was not saying “yeah, the Nazis should have won”!)
Oh, and our right wing media has to take at least the same amount of blame. (And it’s right-wing because it is all owned by billionaires, both here and in the US. And social media is owned by the same people, and lo, the same thing is happening there.)
Like Corbyn before him, since his election Starmer has had to face stern opposition from a large section of his own party, a continual campaign of lying propaganda from the media and scepticism from the commentariat.
Despite that pollsters allege that he has taken his party from the crushing defeat of 2019 to being 20-25% ahead of the Tories.
Is it any wonder, that like virtually every Labour party leader before him, he does not pay much attention to his critics?
He has won nothing
As is always the case, the Tories have collapsed
Even Corbyn would have a big lead right now
It’s the old adage – opposition’s don’t win elections, governments lose them.
Lying propaganda from the media?
Who lied to become leader of the party?
I know because I was a mamber of the party until I realised that if I stayed in I could be kicked out of it because of things I’d said in social media.
Who has broken every promise he made to the membership?
Who won’t let the CLPs decide who they want to stand and parachutes in all his cronies?
Pleased to see today that DiEM25 has set up a petition to ask Starmer to resign now.

He’s also funded by the Israel lobby and as a future PM clearly doesn’t want to upset the “special relationship”.

Clearly not everyone in the PLP thinks they are safe at the next General election. It’s telling the number of Labour MPs with significant numbers of Muslim constituents have suddenly developed a backbone and a conscience.
