The panel on Question Time were asked what would their song title for this moment be. There were some quite good suggestions (excepting from Helen Whately, the Tory MP).
This would be mine:
Ian Drury would have been 81 today, quite extraordinarily.
And of course, his doing was not about waste. It was about choice. And that is what so many are now being denied, hence its relevance.

Great choice Richard but no way would Ian Dury be 99. I remember seeing him perform and he did not appear to be 30 years older than me. He was born in 1942.
Oops – Twitter gave me that info
I admit I was surprised he was that much older than me – and I saw him live
great song from a great artist. Thanks Richard
10 or so years ago I was a bit down in the dumps with the snakes and ladders of life and the state of the world. This song gave me a little hope and still gives me goose bumps today –

Good one
What a Waste” is actually about opportunity cost. I can’t do all these other things if I do this thing…
Yes
Hence, what I said
Do you honestly think we have less choice now than the late 70s??
Yes
Massively so
I know young people
My gran when she was in hospital had the song ‘Hit me with your rhythm stick’ played on the hospital radio. I always have a smile when I hear this song (its on my MP3 player)
