More blog changes

Posted on

We have been upgrading the blog again, largely as a result of requests and comments received.

First, hyperlinks to the glossary have been changed, once more. They now only appear the first time the glossary item comes up in a post. That cuts due down the number of such hyperlinks. I think I will now be leaving  issue alone for the time being.

Second, you will now see there is a blue icon with an access logo on it at the top right corner of the blog. Click on it and you will get this drop down menu:

I suggest to any reader that they might look to look at these options. There are quite a lot of ways to change reading options there, some of which I might choose occasionally because they change the reading experience.

Third, the footer at the end of each post has been changed and now looks like this:

I think that looks better. I changed it because it become clear that not everyone understood the sharing options, so I have highlighted them. I appreciate you using them if you are so inclined.

Finally, there is now a like button at the end of each post and comment. That looks like this:

It goes red if you like the post or comment. This had been set up so that no data is stored on who does so. I cannot and will not use this data.

The heart goes red if you have liked an item. You cannot like it twice, a cookie prevents that.

There is no dislike button: there is ample enough negativity in the world without adding it here.

I hope these changes are useful.

That's enough tinkering for now. I will be returning to the glossary next, when time permits.

My thanks, as usual, to Andy Moyle for managing these changes for me, as well as to those who suggested them.
