I never know which stories and Tweets I write will cut through. Some I hope will do so don't. Others that I think are too obscure do so.
Yesterday's thread on quantitative tightening was a case in point. I thought this technical, and so unlikely to be read much, but worth writing nonetheless.
It actually resulted in 2,000 more Twitter followers and a massive number of reads there:
People are worried, is my conclusion.
They also want explanations.
The mainstream media needs to take note: the disaster to come will need explanation by them too in due course. They should be starting the process now with the aim of preventing it from happening. The Guardian and Mirror have taken note, but that is not enough.

You’re damn right they do so keep at it Richard – the spell the rentier class has put on societies the world over has to be broken.
Now is the time.
We need opposition leading on this. They need to explaining the very real damage this government is doing.
Lauren, when you say ‘opposition’… who do youmean? Realistically so far as I can see there just isn’t any which is a big part of the problem.
I cannot but feel the BOE are provoking resistance which will then be used by this government for more repressive legislation, demonising of dissent, limiting scrutiny and democratic openness, creating more divisions between the haves and have nots, etc.
The Labour government need to think very carefully about the role of the BOE and the governor.
In my view the history of the Governor, in particular his inaction while at the FCA, bear close examination in regard to his suitablity (or conspicuous lack thereof, IMO) for office.
