Lunch today:
From left, me, Jim Henry, Prem (Lord) Sikka and John Christensen.
In 2002 Prem introduced John and me and so became what we always describe as the grandfather of the tax justice movement, which John and I went in to launch and direct for some time. Jim has campaigned for longer than anyone else for tax justice in the US, which was one of the things we were marking. Let me also acknowledge all Prem has done too.
What did we discuss? How to deliver economic justice, of course, when so few big ideas are now coming forward to address the multiple crises that we now face.
Will the old band be playing together again? It could well be, most especially now that so much of the tax justice movement seems to have so badly lost its way.
Watch this space…..

I’ll be watching – when’s the first gig?!
Met John when sat next to him at a Bretton Woods Project meeting many years ago. He was the one talking sense. Been on your case since.
Thanks
Something wrong here, shurely?
Real “movers and shakers” yet not a power stance between them!
Looks like you were out at a nice expensive country retreat..fairly typical for champaign socialists
A pub garden
tony:
That’s an intriguing new word: “champaign”.
Is that “champagne socialists” or “campaign socialists”? Or is it a portmanteau word that acknowledges one doesn’t have to be poor to work for a better society for everyone?
says something about the state of educashun
How about this for a band name – The (Not So New, Slightly Old But Still Very) Radicals) 🙂
Craig
The disrupters……
Wonderful picture Richard.
If you ever need a lead guitarist, let me know.
I’m self taught, can’t read music but can improvise and play in key and in time.
And I play loud.
If not that, I’m willing to be roadie.
🙂
Joy (of Tax) Division…
We eagerly anticipate the transition to the New Order
🙂
They will have to sing very loudly if to defeat the establishment. Just watched on All 4 catchup ‘ The Diana Interview Truth behind the scandal’. https://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-diana-interview-truth-behind-the-scandal/on-demand/72069-002 Not all the establisment is corrupt but significant parts are. Watch how at top level the BBC executives avoided telling the tth, concealed the truth. Ruined the relationship of trust between Diana and her secretary. Disgusting.
More the Rutles than the Beatles i think
Is there room in the band for a few others like Danny Blanchflower to join in and play their part ?
Prem, Danny and I have been cooperating this weekend
