I was recording a pile of videos yesterday and it just seemed the right time to record a Saturday special on my theme of the week, which is why the Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland statement is CRAp - which stands for a Completely Rubbish APproximation to the truth.

Thanks for your work in this vital area, Richard. This CRAP needs called out more often!
I’ve just caught up with your Dugcast: First class analysis of the GERS issues and entertaining too! While you were talking about the skewing of the figures to arrive at the pre-determined aim of negative outcomes, the thought crossed my mind that none of the Tories, Labour or LibDems seem to have realised that, if they were (through some unlikely electoral result) the governing party in Scotland, they would be getting the annual roasting in the media. At that point, the penny might actually drop across the land that GERS is a massive waste of paper, human endeavour and money. Quite why the SNP hasn’t arrived at this conclusion and refused to produce GERS is a total mystery to me: I’ve done a bit of digging and have been unable to find any mention of a legal requirement for their production. It’s clearly time to write to my SNP MSP and ask the question and I suggest that all Scottish residents should do likewise.
