The Fair Tax Mark in the Indian press

Posted on

The last week has seen good press coverage for the Fair Tax Mark, of which I am a director. That coverage reached India yesterday with an article in the influential Economic Times.

Admittedly, the article in question does not appear confident that the time has come for a Fair Tax Mark there, as yet. There are real concerns in India about the inconsistency of its tax authority, and the article focuses on that issue. There is no doubt that this is an issue for India to address.

But it does conclude:

[T]he days ahead are a true test on whether the government can fulfil its promise of a non-adversarial tax regime. Once we achieve morality in tax legislation and administration, we would be better poised to demand better tax transparency from India Inc.

The message is getting out.
