I loved an article by my Green New Deal colleague Andrew Simms on Davos, written on the Channel 4 News website in which he said:
Right now Davos looks like a very expensive chauffeur-driven limousine, speeding toward a cliff, full of hand-wringing, well-heeled individuals who refuse to change course.
And:
They are happy talking about cleaning slime from the muddied economic model, but not about changing the paradigm.

The comparison with Hoover (Hoovervilles are looming ahead with corporate capture of housing)is a good one. With people like Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs there it can’t get more neo-liberal and Lagarde is an utter sham character, I’m sure she has everything choreographed in the manner of synchronised swimming she used to perform in the Olympics. This is a neo-lib conflab and won’t stop the drug-fuelled, libidinal Titanic that is the neo-lib project -Expect nothing or even less.
Almost every recovery or economic boom is, almost without exception, been created by massive spending, not austerity.
Austerity measures show a complete misunderstanding, by accident or design, how debt actually works.
It is stimulus that generally works, putting money into ordinary people’s pockets, in other words, running an economy that helps to serve all, not just the privileged few!
Indeed – I’ve just read ‘The crash of 2016’ by Thom Hartman -he makes the same point and analyses the economic history of the US in terms of 80 cycles – the bad news is that we are only half way through another 80 period of Robber barons and economic Royalty holding sway! By this measurement I’ll be in my 90’s by the time this neo-lib disaster fizzles out.
