From the Times editorial today:
It is an oddity of the system that Jersey, a Crown Dependency, not only serves as a tax haven but provides anonymity to tax avoiders.
True, in a way.
But not odd. That's a deliberate construct of the financial services industry in Jersey that sees its role to be undermining the legitimate tax income of the UK, in the porocess seeking to undermine and even destroy our democracy.
That's not odd: that's very determined.

The point The Times isn’t reporting, or possibly comprehending, is that well made by your indefatigable poster Premier Shareholder Group.
Once you (i.e Jersey) accept inflows of funds that will be kept secret it is spurious to suggest that the only purpose is tax avoidance or even evasion.
If a wealthy investor can evade tax by holding their funds in a Cayman Co whose shares are settled in a Jersey trust, whose only trustees are place-persons who know (& boast of knowing) nothing of what goes on, then why shouldn’t a 3rd world Kleptomaniacal president, or a S American drug baron, or a fund-raiser for Al-Quaeda or the organiser of a paedophile ring take advantage of those self-same secrecy advantages ?
