If it works as well as Labour’s “tough on crime, Tough on the causes of crime” then I think the jobs are pretty secure.
Actually crime has been gradually falling for some time now.
Unfortunately its hard to say whether policies or other factors are driving this.

Precious little consolation for fathers stabbed or beaten to death for confronting feral youth.
I don’t have the facts on this but I would suggest a third reason behind dropping crime figures – statistical manipulation (Labour have a proud tradition of interfering with the stats people.)
If I was one of the Senior Conservatives, I would be delighted. As soon as the other side resorts to personal attacks rather than promoting their own policies and debating the merits of these, then it shows that they have run out of fresh ideas.
In addition, it is saddening when such banalities are pushed by respected bloggers.

Get a life!
It will only be sad when satire has no role to play in politics
@Richard.
Don’t be too quick to denounce Labour on personal attacks: remember “New Labour, New Danger [ripped strap, demon eyes]”.
It wasn’t wrong if you count illegal wars and rampant crime as “new danger” but it was still a personal attack on Blair before his mis-steps.
