The U.S. Justice Department said on Tuesday it was pressing ahead with its five-month-old lawsuit against UBS AG to force the Swiss bank to identify thousands of U.S. clients with secret UBS accounts.
Despite recent media speculation about a possible settlement of the case, the Justice Department said in a brief filed with a Florida court that it was seeking to enforce tax compliance with the full weight of U.S. law.
Good news.
Justice may be done.

Dear sir,
I am astonished to read your misinformed comment: “Good news. Justice may be done”. You just don’t master this issue… The American government (IRS), in requiring from UBS to deliver 52,000 names of its clients, violates the Swiss-American Tax treaty – on top of Swiss laws.
Do you call justice an action which breaches the laws and international treaties?
You very partisan, partial and in this case totally pointless opinion misinforms your readers… I would appreciate your apologizes.
Very sincerely, Matthias Lanzoni
Matthias
Don’t be absurd
Why should I apologise for the legitimate action of the USA in requiring that its citizens pay tax as required y their law despite the criminal and knowing intervention of a party who sought to undermine the rule of law – that is UBS?
I have no hesitation is condemning your position as ethically untenable.
Richard
On the subject of ethics, Richard, you will enjoy the following story on Argentina, UBS and JP Morgan:

It’s a story of tax evasion, criminality, gangsters and quite incredible incompetence currently playing out in the Argentine courts… really quite incredible.
