The replace Trump with Brexit and the Venn diagram would make sense as well.
Agreed
Not even sure Trump and reason should be on the same page.
What keeps me going is that Trump got in because of the strange electoral college system of the United States being manipulated by his backers. Not because the whole country backed him.
This matters, as we have to remember that Trump does not speak for everyone in the USA. I honestly believe that he and his entourage will mess it up at some stage because they just cannot help themselves. They will get carried away.
It’s just a shame that we will have to go through all of this at all really. I hope he only lasts for one term.
Well pretty much half of the USA did back him. I am in the USA at the moment and he is more more popular than you may think with Americans. You may not like that but that is the way it is. It is called democracy , i.e. none of us get what we really want.
Lowest approval ratings for any incoming President
And yes, I have heard his excuses
Michael
I don’t mind people liking who they like – that’s fine – but Trump’s team played the numbers game with the electoral system and that is why Trump got less real individual votes than Clinton but did better in the college where votes have a different weighting.
That is a fact.
The problem with that is that a lot of people did not want him to be president and still do not. With Trump it is about HIM – not his politics.
Democracy is not just about winning – true – but it is not about being badly disappointed either. Do you think that Trump is a compromiser? Because that what democracy actually is Michael. That is what democracy needs.
Where is the democracy in a widening inequality gap then? Doesn’t look like any compromise to me. If none of us really gets what they want then why do the top 1% keep doing so well then – getting what they want in other words.
I agree that democracy is compromise
This is what I call a Venn diagram that challenges:

One is consensual
The other is a power relationship frequently predicated upon abuse
