The Isle of Man, one off the bottom of the regulatory pile

Posted on

fascinating article in Isle of Man Today recently showed the quality of regulation in the Isel of Man in its true light:

TELECOMS giant Cable & Wireless is calling for urgent reform of the island's competition law and communications regulation.

Its call came after it commissioned research it says shows we have one of the worst regulatory regimes out of 37 countries in which it operates worldwide.

OK, this was competition and telecoms regulation. But it blows a great big hole in the Isle of Man's claim to be an exemplar for good regulation. Although, as we all know, that's always been tosh: good and no regulation are not the same thing, and nor is good regulation administered with a blind eye.
