The Guardian's Tax Gap series is having an impact.
Last week saw the third highest weekly readership of this blog, only beaten by weeks of peak Norther Rock interest.

Is this the same Guardian who employed stamp duty savings schemes through the Cayman Islands, paid a tiny percentage of tax given its vast profits and then employed you (financially or otherwise) to declare that there was nothing untoward with this?
Does the word hypocrisy mean nothing to you or is it OK for the Guardian to get away with abuse?
Richard
Just to be clear, I am aware that this issue has been debated before, and I have seen your unconvincing justification however I find it hard to believe that you would take the views you have with the Guardian when you have declared in the past that you wouldn’t act for a client who uses offshore structures.
If this is still the case, why even attempt to defend a company who does just that. Are they paying you for your opinion or do you just have a soft spot for the Guardian?
Richard
Why in your wisdom have you deleted my posts where I have taken you to task over your defence of the Guardian group.
You lose all credibility when you censor free speech and even further, can’t justify your own comments.
I questioned your defence of The Guardian’s use of offshore structures when you have previously stated you wouldn’t work for a client who uses offshore structures. I am dissapointed you have removed my posts as they obviously exposed your hypocrisy.
You freely throw around statements of wrongdoing at any target you see fit but when it comes to critisism of your position you adopt the Robert Mugabe approach.
You have lost every ounce of credibility you may have had!

I have been feeling decidedly unwell today
I didn’t ‘censor’ you. I was in bed.
As for your comments: of course it is clear I have been paid by the Guardian. I have said so time and again, although I am not paid when I comment for it
As for the defence of its tax: the stamp duty scheme was a mistake. I said so. The absence of a tax on capital gain was Gordon Brown’s stupid fault. I said so when he introduced the scheme. They can’t pay tax when there is no charge
Now please deal with the facts
And stop being paranoid
Richard
