I spent the day in London today instead of visiting a bird reserve. The Royal Academy was our initial destination, to meet our elder son.
This was taken during coffee in Piccadilly. The bowler is my wife's, who was having a Diane Keaton in Annie Hall kind of day.
I was having a looking like me day.
Our best destination was The Photographer's Gallery, which was well worth the visit. I do not do it justice and have not had time to edit this.

Good decision not to go the day before as I did, only to find all the trains home were cancelled and I had to share an Uber back to Cambridge!
Grim….
Sounds good . I love wandering around town – but haven’t lighted on Ramilies Street….
A week or two ago did find myself on Bolsover Street – which brought back memories of Pinter:
”
Foster stopped his car to ask him the way to Bolsover Street.
‘I told him Bolsover Street was in the middle of an intricate one-way system. It was a one-way system easy enough to get into. The only trouble was that, once in, you couldn’t get out. I told him his best bet, if he really wanted to get to Bolsover Street was to take the first left, first right, second right, third on the left, keep his eye open for a hardware shop, go right round the square, keeping to the inside lane, take the second Mews on the right and then stop. He will find himself facing a very tall office block, with a crescent courtyard. He can take advantage of this office block. He can go round the crescent come out the other way, follow the arrows, go past two sets of traffic lights and take the next left indicated by the first green filter he comes across. He’s got the Post Office Tower in his vision the whole time. All he’s got to do is to reverse into the underground car park, change gear, go straight on, and he’ll find himself in Bolsover Street with no trouble at all.’
Exactly. “
I was on foot!

I was in London Saturday. What horrified me was that the train fare was over £50 off peak return from Bournemouth with a senior railcard. I am planning on going to Oxford in a few weeks and found that the fare is over £60. Cheaper to go by car.
My return to London, with senior rail card was under £20.
That was Sunday and probably at a better time of day. I left at 10.20 on a Saturday. The cheapest I can find from Bournemouth is £31 at a quieter time and on a weekday. There was also an international rugby match at Twickenham so the train was packed, and it may be they hiked the price because of it.
I think my line enjoys low fares, for some reason. I doubt it is much further from Bournemouth to Waterloo than Ely to Kings Cross.
