More polls?

Posted on

When this blog was renamed and re-launched almost exactly 2 years ago, the inclusion of polls within posts proved to be a popular feature. For all sorts of reasons, this is much less commonplace now, the best explanation being that I have had too little time to plan blog content, with most posts being written very quickly on the morning that they are published.

However, with the chance now existing that I will have more time for planning posts in the future, would you like to see the revival of this feature, with polls being used as a way of stimulating debate on a topic? To find out, here is a poll:

Would you like there to be more polls on this blog to simulate debate and to identify where the blog's readership has common ground and where there are differences of opinion?

  • Yes (82%, 181 Votes)
  • I don't care (13%, 28 Votes)
  • No (4%, 8 Votes)
  • I don't do polls (2%, 4 Votes)

Total Voters: 221

An obvious follow-on question to the above is, would you be interested in suggesting questions that might be subject to a poll?

Remember these questions have to be specific enough for some fairly clear options to be identified in the multiple-choice answers that are available because that is a constraint of the software:

Would you be interested in suggesting questions that might be subject to a poll?

  • Yes (42%, 61 Votes)
  • No (31%, 45 Votes)
  • That's your job (26%, 38 Votes)

Total Voters: 144

If you have any immediate ideas, post them as a comment.

If people are interested in polls being run, I will repeat that invitation on a regular basis. That does not guarantee I will always be able to use every suggestion made.

If you would rather your suggestion was not published, let me know. Likewise, if you would rather that you were not identified as the person suggesting a question, please also let me know.
