Buy me a coffee!

I was at Greenham Common. We weren’t jailed for that either. Peaceful protest, non-violent direct action, these are the common place ways that people in this country have changed society for the better for over a hundred years. Now we are back to Tolpuddle and worse.
Agreed
Some Greenham women were jailed, on remand if not actually sentenced. I know because I locked those cell doors. They were an absolute pain BTW, and didn’t understand prison culture or the other inmates.
Maybe they had reason to be a pain? It’s hard to accept unjust imprisonment, after all.
People on remand have not been jailed and should never be there long enough to understand prison culture – whate ever that is.
Very fine video – nails it (peacefully!).
The problem is, politicos know they are on shaky ground, know that their funders would be affected (less oil, less gas etc) and so encouraged by lobbyists they do what they do. Starmer (& by extension LINO) buys his hypocrisy wholesale (I’m not sure who the supplier is – but my contacts in hades tell me that old nick can’t shovel it topside fast enough).
What to do?: well I’m helping communities develop zero-carbon energy communities & I have a range of work arounds which cut out gatekeepers such as the DNOs. Keep in mind, the population, if it works together is far far cleverer than the “self-appointed-harry-the-half-wits” that pretend to govern us – mostly corrupt morons.
People need to be aware that if the whole of Great Britain is not a zero carbon community by 2030, the climate change will, with 110% degree of scientific certainty, destroy all life on this planet Earth.
All the warning signs are there. I bought a pair of shorts from Marks and Spencer this April and have only worn them once. The mild winter and no summer climate we are now experiencing is not natural, it was created by climate change.
But neoliberalism has addicted the masses to cheap (junk) food and the selfish and wasteful usage of water, electricity and fossil fuels. The purgative will be unpleasant for many, but the planet will sing a song of rejoicing when we see sense and go beyond net Zero, and I hope the majority rediscovers the pleasantries of conversation, singing, and storytelling on candlelit nights with your family or housemates. There is so much that neoliberalism has taken from us.
My worry is:
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
JF Kennedy 1962
It’s obviously happening in other parts of the world, sometimes violently..sometime damage to property / infrastructure.
I feel that we have a government now that is essentially invalid because the mechanics of civil society – not perfect but they were there – have been effectively by-passed by the corruptive funding of political parties.
The only peaceful means to deal with this is to dissent constantly about it.
Dissent, dissent, dissent.
