I went over 90,000 Twitter followers.
I know there are many regular readers here who do not do Twitter but I have to admit that it is now where I do some of my best commentary. It is worth a try.

It is only 13 months since I hit 60,000. That's near enough 75 a day. I admit I find that both exciting because it means that something I am saying is appreciated, and also quite a responsibility to try to get things right.

Yes, the Porrit and James O’Brien clips were excellent
I doubt I am alone in seldom using Twitter on the grounds that it is sound bite heaven. What you have achieved is to prove that view misplaced because you have made tweeting meaningful. My prejudice against some forms of social media is unhelpful. I and people like me need to master their use constructively.

Your criticism of Twitter was undoubtedly well-founded, in its earlier form, when it was limited to 140 characters, I think, and even in its expanded form, it is still capable of being – far too often – a receptacle for mere post-bender outpourings of minimal value.
However, Richard is not the only one to exploit the near unique pluses of the tool, in that the restriction of size for each tweet enforces succinct phraseology, while ability to link tweets into a coherent and sustained argument, permits it to handle complexity = bite-sized simplicity wedded to complex development.
This actually makes it like a vastly improved PowerPoint presentation-cum-lecture, with the added advantage that all pictures, references and resources are also delivered to the student for her or him to keep, without the need for copious photocopying, to be followed up by the student at his or her leisure.

Good. You aren’t communicating if nobody is listening. If Twitter is how people want to connect (and obviously a lot do) you’d be daft not to use it.
So much more impact than an Aldis lamp from the tower of Ely cathedral. 🙂
