The message seems pretty clear. Working people don't like being asked to subsidise the already well off.
Is this the tipping point? Maybe. If not it's certainly one where the government is tottering.

Yep people are happy in surveys to state they are willing to pay more tax to pay for public services, but when it happens the vast majority are not happy.
That is glaringly obviously not true
They do not like how they are being taxed
Very different
And you are trolling
Do not call again
How can we get this simple point across?
When I go to Sainsburys and buy £40 worth of groceries, I no longer have the £40.
When the Government spends £10 billion on healthcare, it gets all or most of its money back.
The £10 billion pays wages and buys goods and services. The NHS staff pay taxes and buy more goods and services generating more jobs and profits and more taxes. The cycle repeats and repeats.
In the longer term, at worst the Government will have paid £1 billion or £2 billion. More likely, it will have paid nothing, or made a profit of £1 billion.
No politician seems to grasp this

All I hear is people saying that we’ve had healthcare for free long enough and it was never going to last!!

I didn’t know where to start when I heard that.
When I hear responses like that from elderly people I always wonder why do you want to bequeath your children a little extra cash but not bequeath them a working health service? They will need the second one more than the first.

A third of the Times Survey sample state they wouldn’t vote or do not know who to vote for. This indicates to me a lack of an effective opposition.
With mainly right wing UK media, those who truly disagree with Government policies need to state:
a) what is wrong,
b) how and why their ideals are not fulfilled,
c) what, SPECIFICALLY would be done with their own Party in power.
Although the main newspapers are not likely to publish such interventions, they could make much greater attempts to influence public opinion through social media.
It’s important to remember that all this is only easy AFTER one’s epiphany. We must never lose sight of the fact that this site is a bubble and that the privilege of our insight is simply not available to most people. Most people, even well informed ones, have never been exposed to a critique of the Thatcherite dictum on housewives and purses. Even if many might reject the trite phraseology, they still believe in neo liberal deficit hogwash and the direct link between tax and spend.
