Difficult to comprehend how exactly you’ll offer another opinion when the opening gambit on the registration website is
“Tax matters. It helps to fund vital public goods and services from education, health and social care, to flood defence, roads, policing and defence.”
The very line of thinking that you’ve been fighting against for a while. But I’m being presumptuous, I will certainly tune in at 1pm and watch. Looking forward to it!
And so I can offer another view in that case – although I only have 7 minutes and depending on previous comments my approach is to emphasise the spillover impact of corporation tax as a backstop to other taxes
Of course if you abolish Corporation Tax then the spillover effect would disappear. I do recall you saying in your work that tax spillovers were always negative, while your colleague Andrew Baker stated that they could be positive or negative depending on how they impacted.
There are those who claim that there is a high degree of coupling between tax receipts and the ability of government to spend, with the difference made up through borrowing and printing. Those who mock the MMT fan boys who insist that tax does not pay for spending (as in create the substance of the currency being printed as being of value) should at least be credited with pointing out your inconsistency.

Thought this was fascinating on how the ultra wealthy reduce their tax bills. Not a surprise of course, but the minutiae from picking over their actual IRS filings is fascinating. Warren Buffet paid a “real tax rate” of about 0.1% between 2014-2018. He can easily carp about change for tax on the rich as he knows it won’t affect him
