I apologise for moderation being very slow this weekend.
I picked up one of my sons from university in Wales and took some time off. Some of that time was spent walking on Saturday, rather too far according to our quite old cocker spaniel Hector, who needed a lift on the way back from one outing when he decided he'd had enough.
PDS The field on the right had more skylarks in it than I have ever seen in one place before.

I think I’ve seen more skylarks in the 15 odd months since the first lockdown than I had in my whole prior life. It is possible they are doing well at the moment, but also that I have done more walks and become more observant.
Sometimes, as an amateur on birds I worry there might be a misidentification of a meadow pipit – but mostly there has been the very characteristic soaring and singing.
