Oliver Bullough is a journalist and author from Wales. He has a special interest in the former Soviet Union and financial crime, and has written several books about these issues.
His articles appear in the Guardian, the New York Times, GQ and many other publications. His latest book is Moneyland, why thieves and crooks now rule the world and how to take it back (2018), and in this talk he will discuss some of the book's key insights into financial crime and the super rich.
This session will be chaired by Richard Murphy, Professor of Practice in International Political Economy at City and expert in taxation policy and avoidance.

I read and enjoyed the book but found it a bit light on the issue of how to take it back. It’s going to take crash of proportions somewhat greater than the so-called GFC which ended up simply reinforcing the crooks in their gilded towers. Gordon Brown may have saved the world but only at the expense of a lot of people at the bottom of the pile.
I’ll be waiting for the film again I’m afraid.
