I finally came to the conclusion that time spent shaving reduces blogging time.
And the new glasses are my sons' surest indication yet that I am suffering what they are calling on oncoming old age crisis.

No, you look better now. That’s not a suck-up. You actually do.
Although I am intrigued that you look more like an art curator now and less like an accountant. I am not sure if that in itself is a good thing but I wouldn’t worry about it.

Your profile picture makes you look like what you were, Richard – an accountant – whereas you’ve now adopted a style more akin to being an academic – which is what you are now (amongst other things, of course). An appropriate change of style in other words.
Dammit – and I might be heading back towards accountancy …..
Well, the theory if not the practice
A simple cost benefit analysis, which I did informally many years ago, comes down heavily on the side of not shaving.
Unusually, it seems to take years off you rather puts them on. And the important thing about spectacles is not what they look like, but what you can see through them 🙂

You might take my rant about about ‘two types of money’ as the venting of frustration rather than a considered position on the nature of money.
If you remember the opening episode of ‘The Beverley Hillbillies’, reprised I think in the opening credits, Jed has been told that their family’s new found oil wealth is calculated in ‘some noo kinda dollars’.
‘There ain’t no noo kinda dollars’ says Ma.
There is, Ma says Jed. ‘The man said it was worth milliondollars’ (Or words to that effect.) 🙂

Yep. I get what you mean. Its like anyone who buys a a Prada handbag and thinks that it is actually worth the £3,000 that they paid for it has a different kind of money.
