I was in robust form on BBC Radio Jersey this morning.
I was not taking nonsense - including the usual drivel provided by BBC Jersey - which I challenged because it acts as a mouthpiece for the Jersey elite.
I ended by suggesting direct rule if the States of Jersey will not deliver the transparency that is now essential in that island.

Well done this morning on BBC Radio Jersey. Your criticism of their inability to report objectively on offshore finance was spot on. As with all issue surrounding finance, the local media is willfully blind.
Needless to say, there was a long airing of comment at lunchtime on BBC Radio Jersey from Geoff Cook, of Jersey Finance and Mr.Shenton, a professional advisor on tax avoidance, to restore “objectivity and balance”.
Jersey politicians have been noticeably silent on the issue. Those who are members of the Ruling Party in Jersey’s one party state, invariably go to ground when controversy appears on this ticklish subject. Its like the white land owning aristocracy of the Southern States of the USA circa 1860 not taking too kindly to critiques of slavery.
Alas, we have heard the “Judgment Day is Coming” all too often and nothing changes. As the Turkish proverb goes – “The dogs may bark but the caravan rolls on”.
Keep on barking, we need you.

Very impressive interview, Richard. If only more people in public life had the knowledge and brass neck to speak truth to power in such a way, it would help restore faith in democracy – and might actually change things for the better for once!

Do you think the fault lies in the home nations not preventing places like jersey existing? Do you think direct rule will stop evasion?
Are prostitutes the fault of individuals or society? You seem to label jersey as the only problem here.
I have no idea what you are arguing
If you ever fly to Jersey, remember to take the sick bag off the plane with you.
You will certainly need it as you pass the dozens of advertisements lining the corridors to baggage reclaim, for Private Banking, Offshore Trusts, Wealth Management etc etc, all lavishly illustrated with usual yachts, sunsets, and private jets.
Nice beaches, and tasty potatoes – they should stick to selling those, rather than acting in a way that threatens our way of life more than any terrorist organisation you might care to name.
