If anyone believes that the loopholes ‘duped’ the UK, Richard, they are living on a different planet. They would have been deliberately ignored, almost certainly after lobbying by the relevant interested parties, and because the officials involved would have been aware of the ideological bent of the government (and top HMRC management) which support such abuse – despite the rhetoric that suggests otherwise.
I hate to say it Ivan, but I do actually think in this case Hartnett may have been duped….
fantastic image!!!
What I want to ask is a bit of an aside to the above but is something I’m continually having problems bringing down to basic principles. I’ve been having a conversation with my partner and we’re constantly running round in circles about what is going on with respect with this ‘debt’ that we’re all paying off and the same about the ‘deficit’ and all of which is being used to excuse this age of rampant cutting .. this is a big ask but is there a way to describe these things as if you were talking to an 8 year old *blush*
I am trying to get a project together on such things…
phew!! 🙂
thanks Richard
