Now Cameron’s getting really lame – of course the name The Green Deal was not his idea

Posted on

The Guardian reports this morning that:

The green deal, the government's big policy initiative for fighting climate change, is supposed to plug one of Britain's biggest sources of carbon emissions — draughty, fuel-poor homes.

Far from being a Liberal Democrat invention, it bore the imprimatur of David Cameron himself. One FTSE100 business leader who visited No 10 dared to joke about the name, only for the prime minister to explain that the label was his own idea.

What tosh!
The name obviously rips off The Green New Deal, launched by a small group of us in the UK in 2008 and which launched a term then copied widely worldwide - even by Barack Obama.
Even the policy is a tiny subset of what we proposed.
Cameron is really conning the world to claim this was his idea.
