YouGov has provided that change is possible within UK (or at least Welsh) politics.
They have undertaken an MRP poll to suggest the likely result of the Senedd election in May. Their findings, based on the new proportional representation system in Wales with the multi-member constituencies that I prefer, are as follows:

Ninety six new members of the Senedd will be elected.
The shift from the last election (using a simulation method, as a different electoral system was in use last time) is forecast to be as follows:

Labour loses massively. After more than a century dominating Welsh politics, Labour looks to be over in the country
The LibDems are wiped out, and the Tories are almost eliminated as well.
The Westminster power hierarchy is virtually removed from Welsh politucs, and Plaid Cymru could govern without Labour by partnering with the Greens:

There is no viable Reform government.
And note, Plaid might form a minority administration.
What seems certain is that PR will deliver massive change.
If only we could have it in Westminster.
And good luck to Wales. Go for it!

Buy me a coffee!

Prior to the opening of the Severn Bridge, in the summer there was a regular service of steamers across the upper reaches if the Bristol Channel.
Candid Camera – a pre ‘video’ version of ‘You’ve Been Framed etc’ set up a mock immigration control on Penarth Pier and informed passengers on the paddle steamer from Weston that Wales was now an independent nation. Passports Please!
The ‘set’ remained in store on the pier for many year
Time to dust it off?
I also remember vividly arriving at Calstock – Cornish Village on the banks of the Tamar famed for its railway viaduct on the Millbrook Company steamer from Plymouth in about 1980 and being struck the number of ‘St Piran’ flags flying from the houses so perhaps where Wales and Scotland have led Cornwall follows?
looks interesting. It would be a significant change if Plaid end up running the government. It hopefully will be the start of the end of Labour. At the moment Cornwall (unfortunately) does not look as if it will follow Wales as John Boxall suggests. Which is a pity as Westminster policies have not worked and the Cornwall Council is wedded to the same sort of policies.
The publication of that poll, will, in itself, affect how “undecideds” vote, and will also change how a number of “thought I’d already decided but now I’ve seen the poll I’ve changed my mind” voters will vote.
Those are likely, IMHO, to then add to the PC or Green totals.
Change-is-a-coming!
Bore da!
Let’s pray this will be so. Greens and Plaid Cymru have had good relationships since Greens became significant in Wales. Zack Polanski was the Green catalyst, although not so significant in Wales due to the heritage of old Labour and Plaid. Deindustrialization in Wales has atomised the working class, I have canvassed ex-miners (once the most poltically savvy literate thinkers). One of which was set on Reform. It’s a huge and exciting task to build a fairer country in Wales.
Polanski’s vision, from a London panel this Tuesday with Varoufakis, Blakeley and Corbyn – Yes one of the best things Polanski said at a panel this week was about the first 3 things he’d do once in 10 Downing St. About how his political power and policies aren’t the most important factor but the whole of our communities and everyone coming together and getting involved. About how what really matters is our power as a population to do good and bring about the changes on every scale of community and politics. Quote from David H.
I do hope that there is a Green coalition with Plaid — do they have enough in common to do that? I would have thought so. It would be good for both because it puts a nail in the coffin of the old guard.
Tories on 1%! They all seem to have gone to Reform.
I wonder what explanations LINO will cook up if this (& perhaps something similar in Scotland) comes to pass.
April will be an “interesting” month & May. Nice to see the Tories reaping what they sowed. Sad that so many think Deform is the answer.
