Labour swept many parliamentary seats in Scotland in 2024, representing a massive improvement in its fortunes in the country.
Now, as The National is reporting:
THE Scottish Greens will overtake Labour at the next Holyrood election, a major new poll has predicted.
The final Scottish Election Study before the Holyrood vote in May predicts a "comfortable" pro-independence majority of SNP and Green MSPs, with Ross Greer and Gillian Mackay's party securing 16% on the regional list.
This is the forecast:

From first to fourth in two years. That's a staggering change, and entirely deserved.
Three things follow.
Binary politics are over in the UK.
The political consensus around the two-party system is broken for good, with both former leading parties heading for extinction.
In the new narrative, we either get fascism or a politics of hope for each person and all the countries on these islands we share.
It's not really a choice, is it?

Given the surge of voting for Reform, at least the election system in Scotland will ensure the number of seats reflects the actual proportional voting intentions of people. However, in the FPTP system for Westminster at the next general election we are in danger of having a disproportional number of Reform MPs which will be a disaster! For me as a citizen of Scotland we have to get independence so we can get out of the disaster that will be a Reform Westminster.
If LINO had any sense (they don’t) they would implement PR along Scottish lines for the UK. That way they would have SOME MPs. But they won’t. That said, By June Starmer will be history (hopefully with a single ticket to Schipol and the Hague) & more sensible heads will decide that with the large majority that they currently have implementing PR is the way forward. It is possible even the Tories would support this, on the basis of survival – obvs they could only ever hope to be in a coaltion gov – but ‘out is better than nowt – & that is what seems to be on offer right now – extinction – ditto LINO. My own preference is to see the Tory party eliminated @ the ballot box. But I’m in a charitable mood today. Can’t think why.
Agree that the only solution in the interests of the people of Scotland is independence and that PR is necessary.
My soul weeps at the fact that anyone – far less a sizable portion – would vote Deform. They have no interest in democracy, wellbeing of the people, care and, worst of all, exhibit spectacularly inhuman opinions and behaviours.
I am no lover of what Labour have done / not done to date. The Tories are incompetent and have promoted self-interest for decades. But Deform!? Why would anyone vote for these bigoted, self-interested, rabble-rousing morons??? I hope Scotland shows we have no place for them, their kind and their inhumanity – putting aside their lying, incompetence, self-interests, lack of political or economic knowledge, etc.
All indications are that Scotland will tell Labour to “GO FORTH AND MULTIPLY”.
I think so
I’ve been rabitting on for years that we couldn’t make bigger mess of running our own affairs than Westminster has done on our behalf. Recently I find that, when I’m discussing Scotland’s future with committed Unionists, if I ask them whether they think it’s conceivable that an independent Scotland could make a bigger mess of running our own affairs, they generally agree it would be unlikely. At this point they start to realise independence is not some mad goal and shortcut to poverty; as long as we are utimately governed by Westminster; it’s the only way for our nation to prosper and preserve our identity and culture.
