I note this comment by Xander Elliards in The National this morning:
If she were alive to see her middle son arrested, it is unlikely the late Elizabeth would have been surprised.
At the very least, she saw the photos and she knew of the 2010 Epstein visit. She saw the 2019 Newsnight interview. She funded the 2022 settlement, and she publicly stood beside him afterwards. She presided over a system that shielded her son from scrutiny for over a decade.
If anything, if the Queen were alive, the police should be bringing her in for questioning.
Direct, but entirely appropriate, I think.
The Royals know much more than they have said. It's time to own up.

Elizabeth would never have permitted the arrest if she still lived.
Time to stand down as well.
The only problem is that would make Starmer the President. Ugh.
Speaking as a parent – which Liz was – I think that she would have looked aghast at Randy Andy and the company he was keeping. He should have stayed in the military – everything seemed fine up until then. Maybe.
The Royals canoodling amongst each other and with fellow dukes, earls etc., is one thing and can be seen as simply decadent and salacious.
However, having relations with commoners who seem to be part of a sex trafficking exercise is another thing entirely. It’s positively medieval as well as unacceptable. That is the state secret that is at risk of being unrevealed and avoiding punishment – never mind the other charges.

Couldn’t agree more with the sentiments …. But not at all sure that the gentry have ever really stopped fooling around with the peasants.
For example, I heard on good authority that the resident Duke at Arundel Castle was doing so relatively recently ……

I tend to agree with Coolheads Prevail; he wouldn’t have been arrested if she was still alive. He would have probably been ‘quietly removed’ to somewhere like Dubai to live out the rest of his days.
Who knows; that may happen.
I think QEII was still alive would have encouraged Andrew to cooperate which would have negated any reason for an arrest.
QEII was not an intellectual but I thoroughly believe she knew how to read a room and was better than average at this task when it came to what may or may not affect the monarchy.
She paid out £12 million to gain silence. I am not sure that supports your argument.
My powers of prediction aren’t brilliant. Keir’s still here, for example. But I can’t help wondering whether there will soon be earnest discussion amongst the Royal punditry about abdication due to ill health and age in a way that suggests it’s a long and honourable tradition of the British monarchy, which of course it isn’t . Charles is going to need some kind of exit strategy, and this might be it.
£12million ! Extraordinarily poor judgement from a head of state. Clearly she believed that the House of Windsor needed to be protected at any cost and her “subjects” should pay. There is much more to come out and I travel in hope that they will be further discredited and then gone.
I will not speculate on his health as I think it inappropriate but having waited until his 70’s to become King I do not see him abdicating
Did anyone else notice the large bruise on his cheek yesterday? It does not look good.
Simon Jenkins made an interesting point in the Guardian today reminding readers that it was Elizabeth and Philip who created the “Royal Family “ at a time when European monarchies were downsizing and that this is now long past it’s sell by date.
Perhaps an abdication and then a complete cull by William might just be enough.
I am certain that an independent Scotland would be a republic.
For the British people, 10 Downing Street symbolises the office and role of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet in the same way that Buckingham Palace symbolises the reigning Monarch and wider Royal Family. If irrefutable evidence emerged that 10 Downing Street has been the venue for a sex party organised by the Prime Minister’s younger brother, involving a young woman trafficked from overseas by a known paedophile, unquestionably the Prime Minister would immediately resign, and there would be persuasive calls for the entire Government to step down. There would not even be the need for additional evidence that the Prime Minister had been aware for many years of his younger brother’s unusual sexual preferences.
There is no justification whatsoever for a different standard to be applied to the Monarch and Royal Family. Our Government now needs to prepare for the inevitable outcome.
Not sure why you imagine 10 Downing Street as a place of honour and responsibility.
There might be calls for resignation but I doubt the official response would be more than “I haven’t done anything wrong”, as used by politicians and the former royal over the last 20 years.
Sorry to be stuck in yesterday, and I’m also sorry if I’m labouring this too much, but it seems to me to be of paramount importance that, as far as I can tell, there has been no specific denial from the Palace about the event in question. Given the potential consequences, this lack of response seems to me to be of very considerable interest.
