“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” – Martin Luther King, Jr – and Starmer (a lawyer) believes that threats, possibly empty threats, will change Netanyahu’s attitude? In the next 5 weeks many more innocent people will suffer.
They will
I loathed Thatcher
But I now realise to nothing like the extent to which I loathe Starmer
70 years of Israeli compromises – just enough to keep the zionist train on the tracks – a little bit here or there – which does not change the trajectory
a) total takeover of what they were unable to get in 1948
b) erosion of neighbouring states (Syria – IDF within 10km of Damascus last week, Lebanon – a quasi-fife of Israel, Egypt – how can I please you massa? etc)
c) zionist control of European narratives on Gaza & the in-process genocide in the countries that count
The Israelis rely on short memories & other concerns – plus fingers crossed (which has worked so far).
As per, Mr Iain Banks had something to say about genocide – Excession, page 45 of the hardback version. Tells you all you need to know – oddly the current one follows roughly similar lines to Mr Banks. &, being powerless, we are reduced to spectators.
I am reading Ilan Pappe’s Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine. He is an Israeli historian now at Exeter University. He used IDF and British archives. He also has extensive quotes from the diary of David Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel.
It is plain. Palestinians were expelled at the point of gun and many killed in cold blood.
It is a counter to short memories. All our MPs should read it.
Novara Media have done a series of interviews with him, well worth watching. On You Tube.
I bought two copies of this book. One for my bookshelf and one to lend to friends. It’s truly shocking and holocaust denying on a whole new scale.! There have been two holocausts. WW2 and what the Zionists have been carrying out towards Palestinians since 1948. That has little to do with Judaism and more to do with far right learnt persecution and supremacy! .
I see that Ilan Pappe thinks that the end of this war will be the end of Zionism.
Hope it’s soon.
Agreed.
It is Western anti-Semitism that enabled Israel – the ‘anywhere but here’ brigade. This is the dirty little Western/Christian secret behind Western advocated Zionism.
My understanding is that HAMAS does not recognise Israel. This is not clever – it makes a two state solution impossible as a way forward and even undermines Israelis who support the Palestinian plight.
What to do? If the Palestinians are scattered to the far winds, how can Israel ever be safe? They can only be safe if the West encroaches further into the near East and prop up Israel by Western governments. More tensions, more trouble.
The only way to right the mistake is a two state solution – it is the only salvation for the whole mess. And it is in a mess itself – in real danger.
Apologies for a 2nd post: “Starmer tells Israel” – what does he tell his children?
Had a friends children (2 small monsters) around for a couple of days – out for lunch followed by playground where they went bonkers in the sun along with other children. Watching them my mind drifted to a quite different place: a place of craters, destroyed buildings, sudden death and starving children. Wonder what narrative Starmer tells his kids? Daddy what did you do for starving kids in Gaza? There is something fundamentally (mentally?) wrong with this man, & ditto most of Israeli society.
‘Meanwhile, our message to the terrorists of Hamas is unchanged and unequivocal.
They must immediately release all the hostages, sign up to a ceasefire, disarm and accept that they will play no part in the government of Gaza.
We will make an assessment in September on how far the parties have met these steps. ‘

He’s loathsome
All framed so Hamas will not agree to walking away and disarming, while Israel doesnt have to. Trying to avoid the Hague.
Agreed
Starmer is not the only loathsome one; all these other western leaders with their supposed “western values” are just as bad. There is only one reason why Hamas is not releasing the hostages; they know the minute they do Netanyahu will continue the slaughter. What about the thousands of Palestinians being held in Israeli jails reports of widespread torture.. what about them? being taken forcefully from your house by Israeli soldiers often in the middle of the night makes them just as much hostages as the Israelis. The remaining Israeli hostages are soldiers, their release may re-awaken the fact that Hamas actually attacked and overcame military targets on Oct 7th; something the Israelis do not want to acknowledge to the world. The best way to get rid of Hamas once and for all is for Israel to stop being a violent occupier and allow Gazans to run their own lives. Putting the PA in charge is not going to work as they are seen as tools of Israel. Only one solution; why wont western leaders acknowledge it; freedom for Palestinians in their own state. Israel get out.
People need to understand that this genocide is not about the Palestinians, as though they are a different category of human beings, different from us.
This is about Zionism versus the whole of humanity.
Zionism is a dangerous, destructive cultic belief system that must be exposed and defeated by activists and campaigners.
As a former cult member, I tried to inform the Prevent programme. They are part of the problem.
Politicians kicking the starvation can down the road must be prosecuted with full force.
May I suggest Starmer is a useless hand wringing, well educated person that follows order?
Could this be geopolitical corruption to appease the right wing government of the Israel/US lobby?
Well these are difficult questions when so many Jewish/WW2 scholars are calling this war genocide? This is also so obvious to the many that it has to be true!
He appears to be saying then that if Israel does do a ceasefire, Palestine won’t be recognised by the UK. What sort of logic is that?
None at all
I will comment again in the morning.
And if Israel does actually take “substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza, agree to a ceasefire, and commit to a long term sustainable peace…” then presumably Starmer won’t recognise the State of Palestine. A get out of jail free card for Israel, which only has to pretend until September.
Starmer is incapable of naming Israel as the perpetrator of the “Catastrophic failure of aid”. He has never once said it. He always uses the passive tense, as though the massacres of Palestinians and their deliberate starvation have somehow just happened by chance.
I have developed a visceral hatred of Starmer. He is, I think, the most useless and therefore the most dangerous PM I can remember in my lifetime. I’ve no doubt he thinks he’s done a brave and statesmanlike thing. With his usual inability to remove the fence from his rectum, he has simply made matters 100 times worse.
We are on the same page
Hannah , the fence from the rectum made me chuckle.❤️.
He is so well aware of the situation. Starvation is, I would say a distraction from the complete carpet bombing of everything in Palestine! Housing, schools, hospitals to the point of starvation of living conditions.
Starmer should have removed that fence from his rectum as he came to power. He has spent his early career in law and order and I think for many, they feel, he would and should have done so much more as a statesmen! That to which he has failed and it’s one of the biggest failures to both electorate and country.
https://leftfootforward.org/2025/07/keir-starmer-recalls-cabinet-for-emergency-gaza-meeting/
Except it wasn’t a recall meeting. It was online, to show how little they care. And not all the cabinet listed.
I know having online meetings is a good idea, but not for something as important as this.
I wonder if they discussed how long it would take Netanyahu to completely annihilate Gaza.
This is not Starmer. It is the USA’a representative in the UK.
This incursion to Palestine is intended to spread further including Iran.
All this is just semantics. Why are we expecting Starmer to be humane and realistic? That is not going to happen until Trump gives the green light.
I would say the majority of the UK wants peace in Gaza but that is not possible til Israel (the USA) wants it.
We need to do more as a separate country.
According to the Guardian “Hamas … must release all hostages immediately, disarm, sign up to a ceasefire and accept it would play no role in the government of Gaza.”
What are the odds that Hamas rejects these terms and therefore Starmer refuses to recognise a Palestinian state despite his pretence that he will do so unless the Israelis call a ceasefire and commit to a two-state solution?
See my blog this morning
Nobody mentions that Hamas was elected in Gaza. This was because Palestine Authority (PA) failed after Yasser Arafat’s death (still unexplained) and is now considered more as Israel’s gatekeeper in the West Bank.
PA have not had an election since 2005 but Starmer recently gave them £10m.
How the West defined ‘terrorism’ often has more to do with Western imperialism
Mau mau in Kenya, the Vietcong
Yet the future leaders of Israel Menachi Begin and Yatzak Shamir led real Israeli terror groups (Irgun and the Stern gang) which killed 5 British in 1946 (Ironically they were all MI5)
Rarely ever mentioned since they both became Prime Minister.
Works in the opposite direction too. Ultra right groups in Ukraine (Azov) are now on our side because of Putin’s invasion. Yet ITV news showed their killing ordinary civilians in Mariupol.
If necessary they would be terrorist now.
