As I sit in A&E in my 3rd hour of waiting I hear 2 people next to me laughing at doctors wanting to earn more than effectively £18/hr. I shall be making sure the doctor who sees me understands I support them.
It feels like a race to the bottom.
I got a press release today from Aldi saying they were the only supermarket in Oxfordshire paying their assistants £13 an hour. And doctors have enormous debts after years of academic and practical training.
They are paid so little because the Govt and it’s paymasters are happy for them to leave so they can continue the dismantling of the NHS.
It is heartbreaking.
No empathy: unless it happens to you – directly.
Tory MP on trial for murder – spent most of his savings on defense lawyer – was not guilty.
He voted for changes to the funding of defense lawyers………& now regrets it.
Tory (Ian Dale) was against having additional staff on train stations
until he needed to use a wheelchair ……..& now has changed his mind.
These are trivial examples – mostly it is a lack of imagination/I’m alright jack – until you arn’t.
I blame it on Thatcher (plus societal coarsening vis the mass meja) – although it had been building for a while……….& yet the problem – the develoment of empathy – was identified as of key importance 2500 years ago – & the Greek playwrights attempted to provide an answer (De Botton in “Status Anxiety” offers a pretty good overview btw).
Humans never ever ever learn (ref: CV Wedgewood’s “30 Years War” last page says it all – have humans learned – nope not at all, the body politic in many countries is infested with war-mongers, psychopaths and genocide supporters). Rant over.
Rant endorsed.
