As the Guardian reports:
Amid growing international horror over the situation on the ground in Gaza, he will urge the US president to take a tougher stance towards Israel and will push for ceasefire talks to resume, when they meet in Scotland on Monday.
So, Starmer, playing his usual role as Trump's poodle, is going to ask Trump to resume peace talks, which Trump, no doubt, will say he will do, with Starmer then claiming he has made a difference, all of which we will know to be nonsense.
Meanwhile, and entirely performatively, he will call Cabinet members back from holiday so that they can hear Starmer say he still thinks it is not the time to:
- Recognise Palestine
- End Israeli-supporting RAF reconnaissance flights
- End weapon sales
- Impose total economic sanctions on Israel
- Call for war crime trials for all in the Israeli leadership and military who appear to have committed such offences.
In other words, he will stand by and let genocide happen, yet again.
The time for prevarication on Israeli action ended a long time ago. Nothing should prevent Starmer from being charged with aiding and abetting war crimes now for what he has already done to assist their illegal campaign of terror.
But that said, action now might help some Palestinians in Gaza. Has he the capacity to think that worthwhile within his Zionist soul? I am not sure, but it would be good to find out.

“Starmer, playing his usual role as Trump’s poodle”, this is grossly unfair. He is the Mango-Mussolini’s paper collector (paper boy?)

Repeating: Starmer is a “made man” he is a zionist and owes his position (as do many in the cabinet) on being pro-zionist. The shock of Corbyn nearly winning in 2017 resulted in a re-doubling of the anti-semitic smears against Corbyn by zionists (mud sticks) – with the expectation that a future election would see Corbyn turfed out and their man (Starmer) in. Thus expecting Starmer to now change his position is to put optimisim before experience. Starmer does as he is told by zionists, it is not hard because he is a zionist. In turn this means no support for a Palestinian state and the desire (by zionists) that all Palestinians just…..go somewhere else. All of this is public stuff, it is not as if the zionists have hid it all under a bushel. Starmer is a war criminal, once booted out of office there is only one place for him, Lammy, McSweeney et al – in the dock in The Hague – for adiding and abetting genocide. (this will never happen – they will probably flee to Israel).
For anyone reading this and thinking this country has lost its soul, consider this. A few hundred, to the low thousands are “protesting” migrant hotels in Norwich, Epping, other places. Yesterday 100,000 people showed up for an LGBTQ march in London. That’s where this countries true soul is, not the cynical calculation of our leaders or a misanthropic minority wanting to tear it all down because they aren’t invited to the party anymore. Starmer would likely be very surprised at the turn around in Labour’s fortunes if he actually took action on Gaza. Sadly, it’s not the British people he is listening to.
See my reply in a blog post.
Thanks
I understand there were other, equally unreported, demonstrations against the fascist mobs – organised by Stand Up To Racism and trade unions. Apparently at least one of these easily outnumbered the racists in Epping on 27th July.
If migrants were allowed to work and earn money, as they want to do, their taxes would contribute to the cost of their housing, education. healthcare etc. I imagine those with limited language competence might learn English more quickly. They would learn more quickly how the UK works. Their labour would in many cases help in areas where the UK needs more workers. And surely the people they worked with, or met in the course of their work, would begin to understand them as people, instead of fearing them as a threat. The present government (in England, anyway) need to get those migrants into work and into normal social life wherever possible, PDQ.
I don’t think he has a soul..
We are faced with a massive discrepancy between the Government and the people
And of course between the Opposition and the people
Clearly it might not end well

Agreed.
Re the Guardian article: I noted para 7 reads “Starmer is also coming under growing domestic pressure, including from his own cabinet and a third of Labour MPs, to formally recognise a Palestinian state.”
I understood it was a third of ALL MPs (as previously reported in the Guarian and elsewhere) and am aware of no breakdown by party. Does anyone have such information?
I have emailed the readers’ editor about this discrepancy.
Reply from Pippa Crerar:
“thank you for your email. Yes, you’re right, this statement was in error. The intended references was to the 221 MPs from all parties that have called for David Lammy to formally announce Britain’s recognition of a Palestinian state at the UN this week.
The online version of this article has been amended, and a footnote has been added to explain the change. We may also publish a correction in print in a future corrections and clarifications column.”
I fear that Starmer is one of those lawyers who understand everything about the letter of the law but only too little about the spirit. Blue Labour seem to be firmly in control with Cooper and Streeting on that team
I think Starmer has a bright future no matter what happens. He will be rewarded for doing and saying outrageous things. He has already made it, if you did not know it.
My understanding of Zionist, dating from Zionism’s beginnings, is the belief in a Jewish state for Jews.
You seem to use the term as a pejorative; do correct me if I’m willing. Surely you’re not saying you don’t accept the legitimate existence of a Jewish state?
It is defined as support for the state of Isreal – which is now an apartheid neo-fascist state under its current government. And there was no intention that this should be an exlusively Jewish state. If you think it was, it is based on apartheid by design.
How dare folks here criticise The Most Worshipful Saint Sir (TMWSSy) (yada yada yada) Keir ….
Not only has he taken back control of OUR COUNTRY, but he has done so with the consent of our greatest allies, the USA and Israel (to whom we have little exports (and therefore excellent upscale potential (BIG %’s looks GREAT!!!).
Not only has TMWSSy re-established the UKs Sovereignty to cow-tow on the basis of taking back control – but done so whilst denying Scotland the right to any self determination, whilst flouting International rules we pledge we conform to.
This man (TMWSSy) is clearly at a different level of moral and intellectual flexibility – dissonance just doesn’t cut it when you can be repugnantly contradictory. Ah ….. that’s the leadership we need!
Imagine!!! Such Joy!!! In future … The Labour leadership might get 30 bits of silver …. Proudly covering up any remnants of hope or decency in order to justify being trampled by US and Israeli despots who understand what appeasement means.
