Of fledgling swallows, and other birds

Posted on

The article I have just published was written while I was bird watching today at the Wetland and Wildlife Trust's Welney reserve. That's the way things work with me.

I did see birds as well. The best was a bittern, but from some distance and so there was no photo of that.

There were baby swallows, though. They must be very close to fledging, and are already out of the nest. Maybe they were just sheltering from the rain as their parents did.

And this is a scene of black-headed gulls and godwits.

I apologise for the quality of the pictures. I used my phone, as it was bucketing down with rain, and the light wasn't too good either.
