The article I have just published was written while I was bird watching today at the Wetland and Wildlife Trust's Welney reserve. That's the way things work with me.
I did see birds as well. The best was a bittern, but from some distance and so there was no photo of that.
There were baby swallows, though. They must be very close to fledging, and are already out of the nest. Maybe they were just sheltering from the rain as their parents did.
And this is a scene of black-headed gulls and godwits.
I apologise for the quality of the pictures. I used my phone, as it was bucketing down with rain, and the light wasn't too good either.

They were of the moment.
I could only spend moments with those swallows, but they were amazing.
My hooded crows that I’ve fed for years (probably much to the annoyance of the local crofters, who prefer to hang dead crows on the fences) have produced an offspring that they’ve now introduced to the breakfast bar. I watched it pestering one of its parents who had a beak full of goodies which it clearly didn’t want to share. As it couldn’t peck the youngster it simply planted one clawed foot in its chest and shoved it away forcefully.
