Given the higher proportion of LGBTQIA people with disabilities, which likely particularly includes those on the moderate end, these policies will also affect this already persecuted minority disproportionately, too.
If Starmer does as rumoured and only apply the cuts to starting eligibility not existing claimants that would still in effect be saying this is an excessively harmful policy but people representing the group should support it because they’re only going to shaft future members of that group not current ones. I can’t see that flying because the stance is still this is not the group to take money from.

As I understand it, the latest concession is that benefits cuts will not apply to existing recipients, but future potential claimants will not be eligible.
Were Starmer to get his warmongering way and officially send British troops to engage in wars in Ukraine/Near East, it is highly likely that many such troops would suffer life-changing injuries and become dependent on disability benefits claims.
Would Starmer/Reeves/Kendall still then reject such new claimants? Another opening of a Pandora’s box scenario perhaps.
