An inspired Sunday morning post!
There is an accompanying article in today’s Observer, by political editor Rachel Silvester, who examines whether the influence of Morgan McSweeney is now waning as Starmer’s political popularity takes a deeper dive daily.
I will take a look, after birdwatching
Talking about bird watching and linking that to your earlier blog about Labour ‘bastards’, I thought the decision by Labour to drop the proposed requirement for builders to install ‘swift bricks’ (Cost £35) in all new build houses was not just pathetic but shows exactly how they have no idea what they’re doing. This was a win, win – absolutely no losers – not even builders. And let’s just remind ourselves that this was accepted by the previous TORY government – but it’s just too radical for Labour!!! God help us! What a bunch of morons.
Ps. There’s a petition you can sign calling for the proposal to be reinstated.

Agreed
I have joined the campaigns on this issue.
And Labour could not give a damn.
And so swifts will find it ever harder to nest.
They really are stupid.
Although the departure of Reeves would be both welcome and a very good thing, there is the matter of who would succeed her.
In january, the Independent listed Darren Jones, Ellie Reeves, Pat McFadden, Douglas Alexander and Wes Streeting as possible successors. I don’t know whether that list offers comfort for those of us looking for something less neoliberal and more economically meaningful and oriented towards Labour values as opposed to Starmer values.
Not a candidate list anyone would want to pick from
Starmer, hopefully will see that change is needed and change his advisors and the cabinet.
We know that the Tories did this a lot during their 14 year reign and unfortunately brought the whole process of refresh and renewal into disrepute.
So for it to work Starmer has to look further afield but it means taking into his camp those on the left of the party.
He’s such a schemer I can imagine him thinking of doing so but there are too many in the media who would attack him even more. So in the hunt for improved popularity I think he’s destined to do more of the same even though he knows it isn’t working.
