I think there is a lot of truth in this:
The people of the US have been run off a cliff. Trump has guaranteed that there is no safety net left below them. The government, Presidential credibility, the rule of law, the economy, international relations, trade, and defence: all have been shredded.
What we're waiting for now is the moment of realisation when they realise that.
Then the crash that I talked about yesterday will happen.
It's just a matter of time before it does. We are in the phoney war: that period between September 1939 and the German offensive in the spring of 1940. But don't be deceived by it. The harm has already been done.

Same here (probably).
A post that hits the spot because the imagery evoked is eloquent.
The revelation is that Trump does indeed look down on everyone else as if they were nothing but ants.
A bit like the part from the Magnificent 7 when Steve McQueen talks about a man falling from a skyscraper. As he passes each floor they hear him saying ‘so far, so good; so far, so good’.
Barnett Waddingham from April 2024: –
“This year’s defined contribution survey and report features an increased dataset with anonymised data from nine leading DC providers covering 109 of the largest DC pension schemes (or large DC sections within a master trust) with combined assets under management of just under £128bn.”
And that’s just the largest schemes – what are they worth now? People seem oblivious that THEY bear the risk of DC Schemes, not their employer or the trustees!
True
Using the same metaphors, are we not in the UK approaching that cliff too with only a few voices warning about the real threats? In a country where the large majority believe in a degree of socialism, the citizens have been shut out of influence, and have no known alternative being presented in the media. What is the tipping point? Have we passed it, but like many in the USA, don’t know it yet?
