Labour claimed yesterday that recruiting around 1,500 new part-time GPs, most of whom had previously been made redundant by the Tories, had solved the problem of getting a GP appointment in England.
This is utter nonsense.
According to Statista, there were 6,277 GP surgeries in England in December 2024. So, in less than one in four of them, there might be a new part-time GP. Some, of course, might have more than one.
That means three in four of them have no new personnel.
That means it will, inevitably, be no easier to get appointments in these surgeries wth no new doctors.
Of course, what Streeiting had to say was nonsense. Statistically, it had to be.
Why do Labour keep on lying?

(let’s not tell em that it is 10% less in weight – none of em will notice).
This is all about narratives & presentation, in such places “truth” has no place &, given LINO is doing so badly they use whatever comes to hand.
I’m not excusing them – doubtless they hope that UK serfs and the MSM won’t “join up the dots” (@ the election last year they didn’t i.e. LINO no policies/Tory retread).
I have no doubt that Streeting actually believes that this is a good thing and will make a difference (it is & it will make a very small/not noticeable difference by the pop).
They lie because they have been bought by those who will ‘invest’ in the services as Government reduces its support, invest spelt
E X T R A C T.
Labour are rolling back the state as Thatcher intended, Stymied’s Labour are her true heirs.
Might Mr Streeting’s comments be another example of his Party’s obsessive opposition to being questioned/disagreed with/considering other’s perceptions of reality, as happened with the previous expulsion of questioning/disagreeing members, by Mr Starmer?
Might Mr Johnson’s expulsion of questioners have contributed to the decline of the Conservative Party?
How does/will the mainstream media communicate Mr Streeting’s message?
I think the statistics might show that it is easier to get an appointment at a GP surgery. In my experience of my local health centre it won’t be with a qualified GP but with one of the many ‘health practitioners’ also employed there. Some of these are very good at what they do, others are, quite frankly, dangerous. However, we have an enormous new building, an expensive coffee bar, and any number of social prescribing groups, so that’s all ok isn’t it?
🙂
Why do Liarbour lie? Because they can get away with it, the same who interests who fund our political parties are the same interests that own and control the media, including the BBC.
Why did the scorpion sting the frog, because it’s in its nature.
Neither can GP practices afford more GP’s. There are insufficient posts to meet the demand for jobs.
Older GP’s I know, who can get out of their practice contracts, are doing so because these mini businesses are tanking.
“Why do Labour keep on lying?”
Because they have no idea what the truth really is because they do not understand what they are talking about????
They lied and backtracked about their policies once in office, or kept silent about what their policies were before the election. Enough people were convinced that there was nothing worse than the Tories and voted for LINO thinking it was a lifeline. It was nothing of the sort but it got them into office with a large majority of seats in the HoC but on a pathetic one-third of the vote on a turnout of just under 60%.
Nine months on, individual LINO MPs have another 4 years before they have to worry about their futures; surely not many think there’s much chance of them keeping their seats at the next election. Those in the cabinet need not give a stuff about losing their cabinet positions, it’s not as if they will find themselves out of work altogether. No doubt they will mourn the loss of their ministerial cars and their access to – ahem – extra income but they will still have well-paid jobs on the back benches.
Lying worked out very well for LINO. It pays – for a time.
Nine months post election, I can’t find a constituency office address for my Labour MP. There are many complaints he doesn’t respond to constituents’ concerns. Perhaps LINO’s English constituents are having a better experience? They’re certainly a waste of space in Scotland. Those who voted for them here must be bitterly regretting their choice.
I’ve quoted Solzhenitsyn before:
We know they are lying
They know they are lying
They know that we know they are lying
We know that they know that we know they are lying
And they still continue to lie
Plus of course the Russian joke:
Everything the Soviets told us about communism was a lie
Unfortunately everything they told us about capitalism was true
Both true
Perhaps the reason they lie is because that’s what they are taught to do in PPE at Oxford? Not directly, of course.
The books “Chums” (Simon Kuper) explains how the elite in government, with very few exceptions, all knew each other before entering politics. They are taught to debate by providing a plausible narrative. And they are taught to argue either side of the debate. There is no right or wrong, just winning or losing. Hence there is no lying.
Simple numerical checks on their logic are foreign to their thinking. I’m sure they wouldn’t even consider wondering how many extra GPs are provided by an total of 1500 “new” (recycled) GPs. 1500 sounds like a lot. It makes a good narrative. That’s all that matters to them (to “win” the debate). I often hear the government is spending millions on something or other. Millions is a big number, it sounds like a lot. No matter if it’s merely a drop in the ocean, it makes a good narrative. 1500 GPs is just more of the same.
Sadly too few politicians come from a numerical (STEM) background from which numerical checks would come more naturally.
Much to agree with
