ChatGPT told me it had improved its image creation abilities. So I asked it to produce an image of someone called Richard Murphy, whom I described as an economist. This is what I got:
As my wife said, it's all correct and entirely misses who I am.
Portrait artists are going to have a job for a long time to come on this basis, which I found rather reassuring.

Rather ‘Socialist Realism’
Made you look thinner and tidied up your hair, perhaps I should ask AI to do the same for me
I have lost 5kg in the last few months
Way below average male weight for age now
Congratulations
I am sure retirement will either help or wreck that achievement of yours!

Hello Richard-typo in your title PORTRAIT not portarit
Oops
As an occasional painter of portraits I am pleased to hear that, however its Midjourney which is really taking the bread out of our mouths, (and has won prizes in reputable art competitions!) It might be interesting to try that.
Thanks
I think I’ll give it a miss
My curiosity has been satisfied.
That smug smile suggests a man who is perfectly content with the status-quo of the world he lives in.
(Which isn’t you at all.)
Agreed
Good to see AI is not the answer to everything
I was hoping for some more birding pictures to be honest. I hope that you are getting out and about today?
In central London. Elder son’s birthday. No birds barring pigeons.
And boy, there are a lot of them in Central London. Actually a lot in our small garden in Hemel Hempstead where despite the fact the birdseed is meant for songbirds, pigeons and doves figure heavily.
Wood pigeons, feal pigeons, collared doves, white doves even. Or interbred combinations of the above. At least the sparrows can use the anti pigeon birdseed containers.
The picture is were, interesting. Definitely a combination of economist beard and socialist realism!
Any stock doves?
We do get them.
I see a bit of Ben Bernanke and Paul Krugman. It is the ‘economist’ beard.
🙂
As a non expert in birds, what is a stock dove Richard?
Like a wood pigeon.
No white patches on the neck.
Prettier, I think.

Thanks. I think we might have had a few. I’ll keep an eye out and see if I can tell them apart from wood pigeons.
It’s an interesting exercise – and makes you look at a supposedly ordinary bird with more interest.
