Trump put this statement out in the last day:
There are no appropriate words to describe the thuggishness of this.
The hate-filled venom inherent in this statement is unforgivable.
This is the promotion of genocide by a man who is simultaneously refusing the right of defence to the people of Ukraine.
This is the reality of Trump. Let's not play around, or try to be clever, or excuse what he is doing. There is nothing that can be done to pardon his actions.
But we can still ask questions. In particular we can ask:
- Why does Starmer call this man our friend and ally?
- Why does Starmer want to associate us with Trump's support for genocide?
- How can Starmer have made no statement on this?
- Why is the mainstream media not talking about this?
I think Starmer's position is completely untenable. What is more, as a rational lawyer he must know that. So, what is he doing in our name? Whatever it is, there is no excuse for it.

God!
How many innocents is Israel going to kill putting that plan into action!? What a thing to say – but Mar a Lago is a long way from Gaza. Maybe Trump should go so that he can smell the rotting bodies of the innocent int the rubble?
BTW, the Nazi party – the SS and quite a few in the Einstazgruppen – were lawyers, highly qualified ones at that. We should not put lawyers on a pedestal.
he is ‘hate filled’ except for himself, his cronies and he and they amassing wealth and power for themselves – refer back to the Guardian article by George Monbiot – Trump is truly a tyrant – my earlier post refers in re your blog ‘we have to hope we can survive this’.
Agreed
Perhaps Starmer is awaiting instructions from his handlers.
This latest trumpeting is unconscionable depravity.
The threat to our species has accelerated using para-democratic means.
Self-defeating, one would immediately think.
But more particularly for their grandchildren, and ours and theirs.
Is it a complete lack of intelligence? “How to survive an Ivy League education and remain stupid?”
We are ill-served by those who currently govern us.
May their reign be short.
Aroha and peace i bawb
In both Ukraine and Palestine we have a nation -or its leaders- with an historic and mystical claim to territories which 2) the people living there dispute and 3) the claimants feel they have the right to use almost unlimited violence and de-humanise the people.
It’s perhaps not just silence from Starmer. Have we stopped providing logistical in this ‘conflict’?
Starmer boxed himself into a corner by wielding the axe of antisemitism to oust Corbyn.
Until 2019, Starmer was a member of Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East. Then he was chosen by McSweeney – whose life’s work has been to destroy the Left and Corbyn in particular – to be the anti-Corbyn candidate WHEN, not if, Corbyn was ousted. He set up a private office for Starmer to plan his bid – six months BEFORE the 2019 election.
At that point, Starmer received significant funding for his leadership bid from Trevor Chinn, a leading Jewish figure. Starmer then quietly left Labour Friends of Palestine and joined Labour Friends of Israel.
To cement his leadership credentials, Starmer turned on Corbyn using antisemitism as his weapon of choice. He cosied up to the Board of Deputies and expelled hundreds of Labour members on dubious charges of antisemitism, and hundreds more because they once liked a Tweet 10 years before which was loosely connected to Corbyn or the Left.
Having done what anyone with any moral compass would find impossible – a complete 180° on the issue of Palestine – Starmer dug in. Consequently, he and his Front Bench have received a great deal of funding via Labour Friends of Israel.
Starmer vilified Corbyn using accusations of antisemitism. He is therefore trapped. He cannot criticise Israel’s genocide because that would mean upsetting his new besties, the Jewish lobby. It would also open the door to questions about his vilification of Corbyn.
So, very much like Reeves and her ruling out the possibility of raising income tax during the election campaign, Starmer’s trapped in a net of his own making.
Starmer is married to a zionist. He supports zionism. This explains the silence and the actions (lack thereof) and words since late 2023. In the book “Get In” the claim is made that his words on the radio (the infamous interview with Nick Ferrari) were misinterpreted (“Israel has a right to defence”) difficult to misinterpret that – & in fairness, Starmer is a barrister & thus articulate and good with words. Why would Starmer condemn the Mango when for much of the time he was condoneing Israeli genocide by the simple expedient of saying nothing? Tens of thousands of dead children – not a word.
That’s easy.
Because “I support Zionism without qualification”. Keir Starmer, Times of Israel, April 2022. (9th para from the end).

1 – threatening a civilian population of an occupied territory is a war crime. (But USA doesn’t recognise international courts as having jurisdiction over itself).
2 – Starmer is being entirely consistent with his 100% unqualified Zionism, his subservience to the covert donors he concealed until AFTER the leadership election, his duplicity, his mendacity, his ruthless authoritarianism and his political ineptitude.
One other point though, he has reneged on every promise and pledge he ever made so he wouldn’t be doing anything unusual if he changed his mind on Gaza, Israel and the “special relationship” with the USA. It wouldn’t be the first time he turned his back on a “friend”, so it shouldn’t be too hard to turn his back on a FELONIOUS FASCIST.
But he won’t.
It reads as if he never quite grew up.
And yet he was voted into office – twice.
The Democrats were offering more of the same.
