A duck for Christmas

Posted on

We went on a walk around Ely this morning, noticing just how quiet it was.

Down at the river was this chap:

He definitely should not be in Ely right now.  That is a white-faced whistling duck. It should be in sub-Saharan Africa or South America.

I am quite sure it did not get here of its own accord. I strongly suspect it has escaped from a collection.

The good news is that it was very obviously getting along with its neighbours just fine, and has worked out exactly where to be to get fed on the river.

I rather like that, and so long as it has learned of the dangers of both cats and foxes it might do just fine for a while. There is room at the inn on the river for this one.
