Very good. Also, for those who haven’t already, well worth watching the highlights of Tim Walz speech from yesterday evening, and – it goes without saying – both Michelle and Barack Obama. Oh, to have politicians who can put that much passion – and belief – into their oratory.
I have
All were good
But Michelle Obama was brilliant
I liked the TV anchor who said “The most popular Democrat of all appeared tonight and she brought her husband along too.”
I thought “Coach” Walz neatly summed up Donald Trump as a presidential candidate who spends most of his time “insulting people and blaming others”:-

This I guess deflects from Trump explaining why he achieved so little to turn around the “United States Team” during his four year term of office other than give rich people like himself substantially lower taxes.
Very, very good!!!
It had me bursting out laughing in places…. set me up for the day with a grin on my face.
Excellent. I watched the Obamas live. Stirring stuff. We all need hope and it feels like there is a ray of hope coming from the US
Nice, very apt. My brother in law who lives in Pittsburgh is pretty confident that the Dems are at last succeeding in showing Numpty Trumpty up for the fool he really is, and that the message is finally getting through. The polls may be worryingly close, but the Dems have over performed in the mid terms and other special elections.
Strange to feel some optimism for a change!
Who remembers this song about a US election

It’s nice that you’re all feeling so cheery and optimistic about the Party that has failed to deal with the January 6 insurrectionists and that is totally committed to supporting and funding Israeli genocide…
I am not
We face the choice between disaster and a poor deal
Which would you prefer?
I guess I’d prefer a Democratic Party that didn’t make Richard Nixon look principled…
…I’m also not yet convinced that a Democrat win is not simply a different route to disaster, nor even that such a win will even result in a Democrat administration, Republican election board members are already set to refuse certification of results and MAGA militias are mobilising, while Democrats are basking in the warm glow of a ‘not-Biden’ candidate and taking their eye off the existential threat for which Trump is the front man.
Maybe I’m just a pessimist, but I’m having trouble remembering an election, either here or across the pond that didn’t herald further division, impoverishment and decline.
Kamala Harris disagrees with Joe Biden on Israel.
I wish that Europe had political leaders that could step up to the plate on the issue of Israel/Palestine. Once again we look like to be sitting on our hands waiting for America to move first. The problem is that Palestinian political leadership is also spineless. It seems to be a common characteristic of many western politicians. This characteristic features in other strategic problems, such as climate change.
